TOM CLANCY HAS become the warrior's herald and the engineer's dream weaver. He has written some of the most entertaining books with many of them quite thought provoking. He has proven the proverb -- where there is a will, there is a way.

The Hunt for Red October. Annapolis: The Naval Institute Press, 1984. [ISBN: 0-8702-1285-0] -- The original and still the best. Jack Ryan's debut. Captain First Rank Marko Ramius takes his momentous step.
Without Remorse. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1993. [ISBN: 0-399-13825-0] -- The heritage of John Clark.
Debt of Honor. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1994. [ISBN: 0-399-13954-0] -- An incredible story of what could happen.
Executive Orders. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1996. [ISBN: 0-399-14218-5] -- Jack achieves the pinnacle he never sought.
Clear and Present Danger. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1989. [ISBN: 0-399-13440-9] -- Jack Ryan struggles against the Columbian drug cartel.
The Sum of All Fears. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1991. [ISBN: 0-399-13631-2] -- the nightmare many of us share.
Patriot Games. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1987. [ISBN: 0-399-13241-0] -- terrorist beware, Jack Ryan is watching.
Clancy, Tom. Red Rabbit. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 2002. [ISBN: 0-399-14870-1] -- Jack Ryan, reluctant CIA analyst in his younger days, was assigned for an experience expanding exchange tour with the British Secret Intelligence Service. He finds himself at the pointy end of the sword when a Soviet KGB plot is discovered to assassinate the Pope. This is not exactly a typical Clancy techno-thriller, but it is an engaging story . . . although perhaps a little flat for Clancy. The technology of military hardware is replaced by the intelligence apparatus at least in fiction as seen by the usually accurate Tom Clancy. This is not his best book but it is still well worth the effort.

Cardinal of the Kremlin. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1988. [ISBN: 0-399-13345-3] -- Jack Ryan & John Clark become a team.
Red Storm Rising. New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1986. [ISBN: 0-399-13149-3] -- the Fulda Gap scenario in print.
Rainbow Six . New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1998. [ISBN: 0-399-14390-4] -- Such a diabolical plot . . . the ultimate in environmental terrorism. John Clark, field operator extraordinaire, now leader -- Six -- of an elite multi-national counter-terrorism unit, faces the most extreme test of his unit's skills. In true Clancy fashion, Clark manages to take advantage of some luck and refined operational experience to win the day.
The Bear and the Dragon . New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 2000. [ISBN: 0-399-14563-X] -- As the title indicates, the central plot of this massive novel is a direct conflict between Russia and the People's Republic of China. While high technology weapon systems are still featured elements of the story, the key is the relationship between the United States and Russia along with a look inside the Chinese leadership mechanism -- the Politburo. You cannot avoid considering the potential for such risks. This story could very well be a prophecy, but the uncharacteristic profanity is a bit overdone

THE TOM CLANCY'S Op-Center series of books identifies the 'authors' as: Created by Tom Clancy and Steve Pieczenik. What the heck does 'Created by' mean anyway? Who really wrote these books? Interesting storylines... not quite up to the Clancy standard, but still worth the read.
Tom Clancy's Op-Center. New York: Berkley Books. 1997. [ISBN: 0-425-14736-3] -- the introduction of the Op Center crew.
Tom Clancy's Op-Center: Mirror Image. New York: Berkley Books, 1995. [ISBN: 0-425-15014-3] -- the team goes into Russia.
Tom Clancy's Op-Center: Games of State. New York: Berkley Books, 1996.. [ISBN: 0-425-15187-5] -- interesting story about the use of the Internet for immoral purposes.
Tom Clancy's Op-Center: Acts of War. New York: Berkley Books. 1997. [ISBN: 0-425-15601-X].
